Three years of new ideas from young people
Own Your Spot runs for several years. In 2026, 2027 and 2028 we start a new round every year in which young people can come up with ideas and make them happen.
Each round consists of four phases: Idea phase, Plan phase, Voting phase and Action phase.
This way, new Spots appear across Leeuwarden every year. In 2029 we bring everything together during a central event. There we look back on what young people have made and celebrate the Spots created over the past years.

Timeline for the first round of Own Your Spot
- Idea phase — September and October 2026: young people submit their ideas for a Spot.
- Plan phase — October and November 2026: young people are matched with a mentor and together submit a more detailed plan.
- Voting phase — December 2026: young people vote for their favourite plans.
- Action phase — from December 2026: the chosen plans become reality. Young people help make it happen and can visit the new Spot.
